Giving a clarion call, Mr. Prabh Das, MD&CEO, HMEL, exhorted for the paradigm shift of the Downstream Sector from fuel producers to integrated energy and materials complexes-producing not just transport fuels, but also petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and performance materials that are aligned with emerging demand and sustainability imperatives. He was speaking during the inaugural session of The Global Refining & Petrochemical Congress 2025, being organised from July 10-11, 2025, at New Delhi. The session was co-chaired by Mr. Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The conference brought together policymakers, asset owners, licensors, contractors, technology pioneers, to shape the future of the refining and petrochemicals sector.

Alongside the conference, Downstream India Excellence Awards were held, where MD&CEO, was conferred the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ Award and HMEL was awarded ‘Pioneering Circular Economy Initiative Award.
