HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) is a Joint Venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (A Fortune 500 & Forbes Global 2000 Oil Refining Company in India) & Mittal Energy Investments Pte. Ltd., Singapore (A Lakshmi N Mittal Group Company). Both the JV Partners hold a stake of 49% each in the company and remaining 2% is held by financial institutions. HMEL operates a state-of-the-art crude oil refinery of 11.3 Million MT/annum capacity at Bathinda in Punjab, India.
In addition to producing the refined Petroleum products like Motor Spirit, High Speed Diesel, Superior Kerosene Oil, LPG, Aviation Turbine Fuel etc., HMEL is also operating a Polypropylene (PP) unit with capacity of 0.5 Million MT/annum at Bathinda in Punjab, India. HMEL produces PP-Homo Polymer Grades under the brand name POLYSURE, meeting the demand of all major application sectors.
HMEL has embarked upon an ambitious expansion into the field of petrochemicals and is setting up a world scale Multi-feed Cracker Complex along with integrated units of 1.2 Million MT/annum of Polyethylene (PE) and additional 0.5 Million MT/annum of Polypropylene (PP) to attain a key position in the Indian Petrochemical industry by end of 2021. With the combined capacity of 2.2 Million MT/annum HMEL will be producing world class grades of HDPE, LLDPE, PP-HP, PP-RCP and PP-ICP.
