Bathinda: Science Technology, Engineering Mathematics (STEM) labs open the rural areas of Bathinda districts have brighten the future of students. The children government schools in backward villages, who used to hesitate in taking up science and mathematics subjects, are now raising their flag in those subjects.
These STEM labs have been established by the HMEL (HPCL Mittal Energy Limited) Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in government schools. HMEL is making continuous efforts to improve the level of education in the government schools of the surrounding villages. In this sequence, the grand finale of Inter-School Quiz and Model Making competitions was organised organized at Government Senior Secondary School of Eminence, village Bangi Ruldu.
On this occasion, about 55 children from government schools participated where STEM labs were opened last year, and created a live model based on science and mathematics subjects. These models were a sample of a new revolution in science and mathematics subject education in government schools through STEM labs in the last one year. A function was also organized to felicitate the meritorious children who were winners of the competition.
Mr. Atul Saxena, HMEL, VP-Technical Services at HMEL, and Mr. Shiv Pal Goyal, District Education Officer, were present at the event. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shiv pal Goyal, District Education Officer expressed satisfaction over the work being done by HMEL in the field of education. He said that HMEL not only created interest among students towards science and Math subject by opening STEM labs in government schools but also made it easy with the help of vibrant models.
School Principal Mr. Davinder Kumar Goel, Mr. Vishwa Mohan Prasad, DGM, CSR and his team encouraged the students. In 2023, HMEL Five mini science labs were opened under the STEM program in 5 government schools of the village around Guru Gobind Singh Refinery. In this, 92 live models were kept in each lab of science and mathematics subjects. The introduction of STEM labs in the rural areas of Bathinda has significantly transformed the educational landscape for students in government schools. Established by HMEL (HPCL Mittal Energy Limited) at various schools, these labs are fostering a newfound enthusiasm for science and mathematics among students who previously hesitated to engage with these subjects. Each lab is equipped with 92 live models, enhancing practical learning and supporting the educational development of students in these underserved communities. The event also honored meritorious students, further encouraging academic excellence.
