August 12, 2025

HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) said on Tuesday that it has entered the burgeoning Indian fuel retail business with the launch of a new generation of AI-enabled energy station.

HMEL is a joint venture between state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment, which is part of the Lakshmi N Mittal Group.

The first retail outlet is now open in Sector 108, Noida (Uttar Pradesh) offering a comprehensive suite of conventional and alternative energy options, alongside a range of non-fuel retail services designed to redefine consumer experience.

The company plans to roll out an extensive fleet of energy stations across the country in a year, creating a future-ready retail ecosystem that integrates traditional fuels like petrol and diesel with cleaner and greener alternatives such as Electric Vehicle (EV) charging, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), free nitrogen and more.

“Our vision is to redefine the energy retail experience in India by introducing a technology-first, customer-centric model that caters to the evolving needs of Indian consumers,” said Prabh Das, MD & CEO of HMEL.

With sustainability and digital innovation at the core, HMEL energy stations will provide not just fuel, but a seamless, value-added pit stop for both people and vehicles, he added.

Each energy station will also house modern convenience stores and retail outlets, subject to feasibility, offering customers a one-stop destination for everyday essentials, refreshments and automotive services.

These new age retail outlets (Ros) have integrated AI systems that will enable personalised customer interactions, seamless payments, dynamic fuel pricing and predictive maintenance.

The ROs offer a unified digital interface for customers and dealers to ensure consistent, real-time engagement across all touchpoints. Incorporation of RE sources and energy-efficient systems to help reduce carbon footprint.

Besides, HMEL’s AI-driven dealer management tools will enhance operational efficiency and ensure consistent service quality.
