Born with a vision to transform the Indian energy landscape, HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) was formed in 2007 through a prestigious joint venture between Fortune 500 company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Mittal Energy Investments Pte. Ltd. We aspire to enrich everyday lives and bring happiness to countless individuals through diversified products, ranging from essential fuels and derivatives to high-quality polymers. Our journey took a significant leap forward with the commissioning of the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in 2012 in Bathinda, one of India’s most energy-efficient refineries. Since then, HMEL has emerged as a visionary architect of a brighter future, leading the way with innovation and advanced materials to create a lasting positive impact that resonates for generations to come.

As India’s leading oil and gas company, we are uniquely positioned to meet the nation’s evolving energy needs. HMEL owns and operates the Integrated Refinery-Petrochemical Complex, Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, in Bathinda, Punjab, comprising  an 11.3 MMTPA Crude Oil Refinery and a 1.2 MMTPA Multi-Feed Cracker along with 1.2 MMTPA Polyethylene (PE) and 1.0 MMTPA Polypropylene (PP) Plants. The synergy between our refinery and petrochemical operations reflects our adaptive strategy, allowing swift responses to market demands. With smart automation and eco-friendly practices, we play a pivotal role in India’s energy and economic transformation journey, producing both fuels and high-value petrochemicals that power industries and millions of lives.
